The 2014 Nissan Altima gained recognition from critics and consumers on Edmunds.com, an online car pricing company, during its 2014 annual automotive review. The Edmunds Testing Team named the model a Top Rated Car while Edmunds.com shoppers made it a 2014 Most Popular Car with millions of website visits.
The Edmunds Testing Team evaluates nearly 200 new vehicles each year with a standardized road-test loop and performs instrumented testing in a controlled environment.
The 2014 Nissan Altima was listed among Edmunds.com’s 2014 Top Rated Sedans after earning an “A” rating when compared to its competitors in the same price range and class. It was also named one of the top three 2014 Most Popular Midsize Cars according to car-shopper consideration, meaning the number of monthly visitors to the model’s Edmunds.com research and inventory pages during the 2013 calendar year.
“Since its redesign for the 2013 model year, the Nissan Altima offers more practical qualities that buyers tend to respond to, like fuel economy and comfort, but at the same time it has upped its game with auto reviewers by providing an engaging ride and crisp handling,” said Bill Mickelsen, general manager of King Windward Nissan, a Greater Honolulu Nissan dealer in Hawaii. “Not to mention, both camps can get behind the new Altima’s breadth of intuitive technologies inside the cabin.”
With its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and Xtronic continuously variable transmission, the standard 2014 Nissan Altima returns a class-leading 38 mpg on the highway while producing a responsive 182 horsepower. Performance-focused buyers can also upgrade to a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 270 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Inside, the driver and front passenger benefit from extra back support with NASA-inspired zero-gravity seats, and new technologies like the standard Advanced Drive-Assist Display and Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy-Fill Tire Alert to improve convenience and safety. Driver-assistance systems like Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Moving Object Detection are also newly available.
