Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Suburban make up nearly 50 percent of all full-size-SUV sales, so they can make big waves in the segment anytime they undergo a significant redesign. Boasting updated styling, greater fuel economy and a bevy of new technologies that improve their ride and safety, the all-new 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban have started arriving at dealerships nationwide.
The 2015 Tahoe and the larger 2015 Suburban each offers a more efficient version of the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, as well as fuel-saving technologies like a new electric variable-assist power steering system, allowing both vehicles to return up to 23 mpg on the highway. That EPA rating is an improvement of two miles per gallon compared to the outgoing models, placing the new Tahoe and Suburban at the top of the full-size-SUV segment. Featuring a stronger, fully boxed frame, a wider rear track and an optional third-generation magnetic ride control damping system, Chevy’s latest SUVs also provide drivers with a smoother ride and more dynamic handling.
“While its competitors are content to let their full-size SUVs rest on their past achievements, Chevy has thoroughly modernized its Tahoe and Suburban to give buyers the fuel efficiency and technologies that have become commonplace in smaller vehicles,” said Bo Hendrick, general sales manager of Central Maine Motors, a seller of new and used SUVs in Maine. “At the same time, the 2015 Tahoe and Suburban still deliver all the capability and interior space that drivers have come to expect from a Chevy SUV.”
Chevy’s EcoTec3 V8 has 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque on tap, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds in the 2015 Tahoe and 8,300 pounds in the 2015 Suburban. Inside, the new Chevy Tahoe can house up to 94.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats, while that number swells to 121.1 cubic feet in the new Chevy Suburban. For protecting the most precious cargo, Chevrolet’s redesigned SUVs can be purchased with newly available active-safety technologies, including forward-collision alert, lane-departure warning, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and front-park assist.
