2015 Chrysler 200 Gets 5-MPG Boost with New Tigershark Four-Cylinder

04/09/2014 (press release: CambridgePRGroup) // LAKEWOOD, N.J. // Pine Belt Chrysler Jeep

The redesigned 2015 Chrysler 200 is packaged to appeal to buyers with affordable pricing that is paired with upmarket amenities, and now Chrysler can officially add fuel-cost savings to the car’s value proposition. Arriving later this spring as the first midsize sedan to come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the 2015 Chrysler 200 has been EPA-rated at 36 mpg on the highway with its new 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 four-cylinder engine, an impressive 5-mpg boost compared to the outgoing four-cylinder model.

Buyers of the standard 2015 Chrysler 200 won’t find it lacking in responsiveness either, as the Tigershark four-cylinder boasts 6 percent more horsepower and 10 percent more torque than its less efficient predecessor, producing a total of 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. If that output is not enough for the more dedicated driving enthusiasts, the optional 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 churns out a class-leading 295 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque while still netting up to 32 mpg on the highway, a 3-mpg improvement over the equivalent 2014 model.

“The new Chrysler 200 offers fuel economy that meets or surpasses the ratings of value-oriented Japanese sedans while providing sophisticated styling and a well-equipped interior that could be confused for a luxury German make,” said Rick Hackett, general manager of Pine Belt Chrysler Jeep, a New Jersey Chrysler dealer in Lakewood. “We expect that uniquely American mix of amenities and affordability to be an irresistible proposition for buyers who feel they deserve luxury but still want value in their daily drive.”

Outside, the 2015 Chrysler 200 sports sleek, coupe-like styling, with its headlamps and grille connected by a swooping chrome design line. Inside the cabin, the upscale midsize sedan features soft-touch materials, premium trim combinations and an intuitively designed center console with a segment-first rotary e-shift dial. Available in-car technologies include a seven-inch full-color LED instrument cluster, a Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia command center and new active-safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist.
