The enhancements — which follow the launch of Camfil’s state-of-the-art Tech Center in Trosa, Sweden — are focused on three facilities, located in the United States, Malaysia, and France. The upgrades will boost Camfil’s ability to provide local technical support, ensure long-term product quality, and expand the company’s lead in research and development.

At Camfil’s Riverdale, New Jersey facility, a new ASHRAE 52.2 test rig — the most advanced in North America — has been installed. In conjunction with this new addition, the laboratory has undergone an extensive renovation. Camfil has also ordered new FT-IR equipment for the lab, which will enable researchers to ‘take the fingerprint’ of any material to learn its molecular composition. That will help Camfil better understand what has been captured in used air filters, and also let it verify that the quality of raw material from suppliers is consistent.
For Camfil’s Ipho, Malaysia installation, the company has expanded molecular laboratory capacity to better serve its growing AMC (airborne molecular contamination) business. A new addition to the facility is GC-MS (Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometer) equipment, which will enable Camfil to analyze molecular contamination problems for its AMC customers. This will help the company tailor optimal solutions for users’ needs.
Camfil’s SML laboratory in France has also been renovated, with new equipment including an oven for testing high temperature air filters commonly used in hospital and medical applications where instruments are sterilized before use. The idea is to test these products — for which demand has been growing markedly — using life-like simulations. Meanwhile, new equipment for comfort filter testing will soon be installed in the lab. This state-of-the-art test rig will greatly improve Camfil’s ability to provide technical product support to its sales force in Southern Europe.
