Asheville Italian Restaurant Nona Mia Celebrates Sixth Year With Special Prices And Special Guest

/EINPresswire.com/ Asheville, NC’s best and most authentic Italian restaurant once again breaks the mold with another great surprise.

In a time of difficult economic woes, opening a restaurant in Asheville is normally not a wise decision. High overhead, low profit margin and a frequently changing staff mean many restaurants do not survive past the first year and often not even that long.

So, for Nona Mia to have celebrated six successful years in the restaurant business in Asheville, it is indeed reason to celebrate.

From humble beginnings as a catering service to the full service restaurant and bar that now stands, Nona Mia has lots of reasons to celebrate.

“It has not been easy, but then again, no one ever promised it would be easy to be your own boss or own your own business,” said Chef Peter Affatato, owner of Nona Mia.

The secret to Nona Mia’s success is no secret at all. Quality food, the way Nona herself would make, is prepared and served daily from the kitchen. As often as possible, Affatato uses local ingredients for his dishes and puts the same in gradient into every dish: mother’s love.

“Nona is Italian for grandmother, so it makes sense that the food would taste like you would have in your grandmother’s home in the old world. We have used classic family recipes to craft our meals,” Affatato said.

As part of their celebration of six years, Nona Mia is having a special on May 3 and 4; the same two days they first opened. Come in for $6.00 bottles of Proseco wine and other drink specials, but this is only a part of the festivities.

Celebrated Atlanta lighting wizard Christopher Moulder will be on hand overseeing the installation of his work, titled “Baleen,” for the bar at Nona Mia on the 4th. Mr. Moulder will be at Nona Mia on the 3rd to sign copies of his book.

“It has not always been an easy journey,” said Yolie Affatato, wife and co-owner, “there were many times we thought that we would not make it. Fortunately, the community supported us through thick and especially through the thin.”
