/EINPresswire.com/ New publication highlights company’s advances in—and commitment to—energy-efficient commercial air filters, which can decrease emissions, costs, and waste.
Camfil Farr — the world’s leading provider of commercial air filters — has published its 2011 Sustainability Report, which is now available on its corporate Web site. The report enables Camfil Farr customers and stakeholders to better understand the company’s commitment to providing sustainable, energy-efficient air filters that reduce stress on both the environment and users’ budgets.
Since 2009, when it embarked on a mission to become the first sustainable air filtration company in the world, Camfil Farr has released a series of products and initiatives — including industrial air filters that perform better than the competition while requiring less energy, and a state-of-the-art research and development center — that have enabled it to lead the industry in environmentally responsible clean air solutions.
The results have been compelling. By more efficiently using natural resources — such as the energy air filters require to remove dangerous particles from indoor environments — Camfil Farr air filters have not only enabled users to reduce their energy bills, but also carbon emissions. Such emissions, in the form of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, have been linked to climate change and the dangerous consequences of global warming.
Reducing energy use and emissions, while maintaining the optimal performance of air filters, has been a game-changing development, says Alan O’Connell, President and CEO of the Camfil Farr Group. Since air filters require energy, businesses, he notes, have typically faced a dilemma: choosing between protecting people’s health and reducing carbon emissions. “With Camfil Farr’s energy-efficient solutions, we can help balance both needs,” says O’Connell.
As outlined in its sustainability report, Camfil Farr products are empowering sustainability-minded customers in a number of key ways. For example, the unique design of Camfil Farr air filters means that they maintain peak efficiency far longer than traditionally designed products, so they don’t have to be replaced as often. That reduces replacement and disposal costs, as well as the amount of used product diverted to landfills. Meanwhile, because the air filters use less energy to begin with, Camfil Farr customers — including manufacturers, hospitals, hotels, and other businesses — have been able to reduce their HVAC energy costs by up to 40 percent.
Other sustainability achievements outlined in Camfil Farr’s report include the development of the new European Energy Efficiency Classification System — an energy and air quality rating systems for air filters that came into force in January 2012. “Customers will now get a clearer understanding of a filter’s annual energy consumption, initial efficiency, and minimum efficiency,” says Myriam Tryjefaczka, Corporate Sustainability Manager at Camfil Farr. “The classification will serve as a useful tool for our customers for selecting the most energy-efficient filter.”
At the same time, Camfil Farr has been aggressive in reducing its own energy consumption: compared to 2007 levels, the energy efficiency of the company’s manufacturing plants improved by 38 percent in 2011, and energy consumption was down 21 percent.
There is still, of course, much more work to be done. “Going forward, we will continue our sustainability efforts and dialogue with stakeholders, customers, and policy makers, as well as internally with employees, so we can maintain our position as an industry leader in sustainability,” says Tryjefaczka.
