09/19/2014 (press release: CambridgePRGroup) // GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. // Glenwood Springs Ford
The Ford brand has created more than its share of iconic vehicles during its 111 years of existence, making a local Colorado Ford dealership a fitting location for a classic car show. With 157 impeccably maintained vehicles on display, the Glenwood Springs Ford 2014 Classic Car Show offered a lot of eye candy to attendees on Saturday, Sept. 13, and in the process, the dealership was able to raise about $3,000 in total proceeds to donate to YouthZone’s Kiss ‘N Squeal annual fundraiser.
To qualify for the 2014 Classic Car Show, vehicles were required to be fully complete and older than the 1979 model year. Amid stiff competition, the top classic cars were awarded in a variety of categories, including Best Antique, Best Classic, Best Custom, Best Original, Competition Specific, Judges’ Favorites, Most Unique and People’s Choice. Beyond the beautiful cars, attendees were treated to a silent auction, more than $500 in door prizes, dash plaques and free hot dogs and ice cream.
“We’re thrilled that so many legendary cars were registered for our show, and we’re equally pleased that so many folks came to check out those rides on a gorgeous Saturday in September,” said Steve Nilsson, general manager of Glenwood Springs Ford. “Most importantly, the great turnout at the show allowed us to make a significant contribution to YouthZone, which does so much to ensure that young people in Colorado have the support and resources they need to stay out of trouble and succeed later in life.”
The annual YouthZone Kiss ‘N Squeal fundraiser taps local community members to compete against each other to see who can raise the most money for the cause, with the winner earning the humorous privilege of kissing a real live pig. This year, Glenwood Springs Ford’s Stephanie Winkler is a candidate in the competition, and the public can continue to support her bid by stopping by the dealership at 55 Storm King Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 20. For every test-drive taken during that time, Ford will donate $20 to YouthZone. Online donations can also be made to Winkler’s Kiss ‘N Squeal campaign at https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/YouthZone/OnlineDonation.html with her name in the “Comments” section.
Each year, YouthZone assists more than 1,500 young people between the ages of six to 18 years old in a variety of Colorado communities, including Glenwood Springs. Often working with the kids’ families to help with Prevention, Intervention and Volunteerism, the nonprofit organization is focused on creating opportunities for youth to be responsible community members.
