Philadelphia – A convicted drug dealer gave testimony against six police officers in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Michael Casciolo said he was tackled by six men in a hallway after leaving his penthouse apartment while carrying a laundry bag filled with drugs in an incident involving multiple undercover officers.

As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Casciolo claims the officers ransacked his apartment without a warrant and ignored his request for an attorney. The incident reportedly occurred in 2007.

Casciolo is quoted as stating while testifying in the federal police corruption trial, “My first immediate thought was, it was the Mafia and I was getting robbed… I was thinking: Everything is catching up to me.”

Casciolo also said he was ordered to be thrown over the balcony after refusing to give up certain information stating, “They actually started to lift me a little… I was afraid. It was the middle of the night. No neighbors came out. … (So) I gave them the password.”

Squad supervisor Thomas Liciardello and five other officers have been charged in connection with the alleged shakedown and other incidents occurring from 2006 to 2012. The defendants have been named in a racketeering indictment that alleges the accused narcotics officers stole millions in drugs, money, and other items from suspects.
