Cuisine Noir magazine, the premier food, wine and travel magazine for an African American reader, is partnering for the first time with Bay Area Black Expo (BABE) to provide two days of programming during the expo, featuring some of the Bay Area’s top black chefs. The expo will take place September 8-9 at the Oakland Convention Center.

“This is the first time that the event will have two full days of culinary demonstrations, which makes it exciting,” says V. Sheree Williams, publisher of Cuisine Noir.

Syndicated radio announcer Miranda Wilson, one of the Bay Area’s favorite media personalities, will be host of the culinary stage that will focus on healthy food preparation. According to Williams, “The goal is to reach the African American community with key messages about healthy eating and cooking, and to get families back into the kitchen to cook. Presenters will show how you don’t have to sacrifice flavor for healthier meals and present new recipe ideas.”

A cooking competition will take place on Saturday with two teams charged with the task of creating a healthy meal in 30 minutes using ingredients found at home or that can be easily purchased from a farmer’s market or grocery story.

BABE partner and co-producer, J. Alton Byrd says, “We are delighted to partner with Cuisine Noir and Kaiser Permanente to present the expo’s cooking and healthy eating demonstrations. True to Expo core values—inform, educate, and inspire—we are excited to show the Bay Area community about healthy eating and about creative cuisine that will enhance lifestyle choices. We are absolutely sure that our celebrity workshops will be a hit with Expo visitors.”

Cuisine Noir’s test kitchen chef Berlin Lillard will be joined by chefs Sarah Kirnon, Nikki Shaw and David Lawrence. Celebrity chef Bryant Terry closes out the two-day event with a demonstration and book signing on Sunday, September 9.

Bay Area Black Expo will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 8-9, 2012 at the Oakland Convention Center. Cuisine Noir’s programming will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end at 6 p.m., daily.

Cuisine Noir magazine (www.cuisinenoirmag.com), online and print, is published by V. Sheree Publishing based in the Bay Area. The publishing house is gaining traction as the top creator of culinary, wine and travel content dedicated to a diverse epicurean experience.
