Debra Scotto Testifies About the Bus Mass Transit in the 52nd Assembly District in Connection with Outer Borough Mass Transit.

52nd Assembly District State Committee candidate, civic activist and small business owner Debra Scotto this week submitted written testimony to the New York City Council Transportation Committee putting a spotlight on outer borough public transportation issues. Her focus was the need to revisit some of the critical decisions that led to cuts and elimination of some bus routes in the 52nd District.

As a “born and bred” Brooklynite, Debra Scotto is keenly aware of the important role that a vibrant mass transit system plays in her community.

“Yes, we need to cut costs, but NOT at the expense of our children and grandparents. Senior citizens and the parents of our school children are the two groups that are most hurt by cuts to service in our community,” says Scotto.

Debra Scotto is out there every day speaking to people living in the 52nd AD and the issues that comes up more often than any other is that of the slashing of bus service in the area.

“This is not about numbers. This is about destroying continuity and movement between neighborhoods that comprise one community. We need our buses back.”

Debra Scotto is a candidate for the 52nd A.D.’s next State Committee Member in the Democratic Primary in September, 2012.
