Feminist Author Mary Thom Killed In New York Motorcycle Accident

Yonkers, N.Y. — Renowned feminist author and editor, Mary Thom, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Yonkers on Friday, April 26, 2013. The fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Saw Mill River Parkway around 4 p.m., the New York Times reported.

Thom was reportedly riding her 1996 Honda Magna 750 motorcycle when she hit a car, which threw her onto the road.

Responding emergency medical crews pronounced her dead at the scene of the crash.

It is unknown at this time what caused her to crash into the other vehicle.

Thom was the editor of Ms. Magazine until her death. She was also the author of several books, which included a history of Ms. Magazine, and co-edited an oral history of Bella S. Abzug, who was a congresswoman and feminist leader.

Investigations are ongoing.
