Study Finds That Garcinia Cambogia Helps Dieters Lose Weight and Keep It Off.

A recent Purdue University study has health and weight loss experts abuzz with anticipation. In the study, researchers tested the health effects of an extract of Garcinia Cambogia, a tamarind fruit which is traditionally found in India and areas of southeast Asia.

Garcinia Cambogia has long been used in Ayurvedic health treatments but traditional Western medicine has been slow to consider the possible uses of this exotic natural treatment. The Purdue study however may just change the minds of even the stodgiest members of the Western medical academies.

In the study, researchers gathered a number of individuals who had difficulty maintaining ranges of body weight that were considered to be healthy by medical measurements. These individuals (along with a similarly weighted control group) were then given a daily dose of 400 mg of Garcinia Cambogia extract over the course of the 60 day study.

The findings were stark. The group that was given the Garcinia Cambogia extract lost an average of 9 pounds more than the placebo group. The conclusion is clear: Garcinia Cambogia extract should definitely be considered by individuals seeking to lose weight—especially if these individuals have not had success with other kinds of weight loss methods.

Even more impressive is the fact that individuals in the study were not asked to change their diets or habits in any other way other than by taking the Garcinia Cambogia extract. That means that weight loss was purely due to the active ingredient in Garcinia Cambogia.

Weight loss and health experts believe that if combined with regular exercise and proper diet the effects of such weight loss aids could be magnified to even greater levels.

How Does Garcinia Cambogia Achieve These Weight Loss Benefits?

Medical researchers believe the active ingredient in Garcinia Cambogia is Hydroxycitrac Acid, abbreviated HCA. Scientist further believe that HCA has three central effects that can explain the amazing effects found in the Purdue study. First, scientists believe HCA helps to actually boost the metabolism and to help those taking it to burn off fat at a faster rate than they would normally do. In effect, HCA makes the body feel as if it is already slimmer, younger and healthier, allowing users to lose weight in way many have not experienced for years prior to the taking of HCA.

Second, and perhaps even more importantly, HCA also effects the actual fat producing parts of body, dampening those operations so that less fat is actually produced. It is as if the body is simply not working as hard to take fat from the foods it eats, allowing such foods to pass through the body without leaving so much of a mark on the body’s fat deposits.

The final way that HCA and Garcinia Cambogia seem to effect the body is not just physical but psychological. It seems that individuals taking Garcinia Cambogia have their serotonin levels raised as well. Serotonin generally helps individuals to generally have an increased level of well-being. For those individuals who are in part emotional eaters, this aspect of Garcinia Cambogia may in fact be central to losing weight since the cause of their eating is less about food than feelings of anxiety and stress.
