Global Social Enterprise Returns To Ann Arbor Promoting Artists and Non-Profits

After a successful launch in March, Voxtropolis—“city of voices”—returns to Ann Arbor on Sunday, October 12 for an evening of music and art benefitting two vital charities. Voxtropolis is a global movement that showcases artists while raising awareness and funding for non-profits. With locations in more than a dozen cities around the world including Johannesburg, Edinburgh, Toronto, and Miami, Voxtropolis Ann Arbor opens again on Sunday, October 12 from 7-9 PM at Babs’ Underground, 213 S. Ashley in downtown Ann Arbor. Tickets are $10 at the door.

 

The evening will feature the music of Vincent Colbert, Ed Wells, Kelsey Rottiers, and The Living Stones. It will also showcase local visual artists. Proceeds will go to Ypsilanti-based Hope Clinic and the international relief work of Badala. The evening will include brief presentations by the two beneficiaries and a glimpse at the transformational work of other Voxtropolis sites around the globe.

 

Voxtropolis founder Alex McManus says, “Voxtropolis, in a sense, exists to allow creatives to show film, to showcase original music, original poetry, fine art, cuisine, stand-up comedy…basically exploring the idea, ‘What does it mean to be human?’” He adds, “We created a social movement, a creativity movement, a civilization of people who were pursuing humanity.” 

 

Social entrepreneur and Voxtropolis Ann Arbor promoter Kirk Schneemann has long wanted to blend his passions of the arts, non-profits, and humanity. “It’s a win-win-win, a unique gathering that benefits artists, causes, and attendees.” These family-friendly gatherings are open to the public.
