Grammy award-winning Island Def Jam recording artist and actor in the Fast and Furious film franchise, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, will salute U.S. troops with concerts across the country in 2013. The events will be produced by the Center for American Military Music Opportunities (C*A*M*M*O)’s Mission One Voice (www.MissionOneVoice.org). The music festivals benefit U.S. military members and veterans, including the National Guard and Reserves, with a unique combination of music-based therapy, outreach and development.
This is the fifth consecutive year for the tour, in association with C*A*M*M*O’s Mission One Voice and event producer Lerer Media (www.LererMedia.com). Previous performers included NeYo, Estelle, Eddie Money, Patti LaBelle, Musiq Soulchild, Plain White T’s, Trey Songz and many more. The events will also feature performances by C*A*M*M*O music artists.
“I look forward to the opportunity to perform for the troops and their families,” said Ludacris. “This should be a time of reflection for us to appreciate what they have done to keep us all safe and what their families have sacrificed by being separated from them. C*A*M*M*O’s Mission One Voice, through their work with Family Morale Welfare Recreation (FMWR), helps to keep families together by providing entertainment and other activities. I want to thank C*A*M*M*O and Mission One Voice for doing what they do,” he added
MSNBC.com has referred to Ludacris, along with other eminent figures such as Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffet, as one of today’s most effective influencers on American culture. Ludacris’s forthcoming album “Ludaversal” will be released in 2013 and the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious series is set to open in May 2013.
Alycia Lerer, Founder and Executive Director of Mission One Voice said, “I am ecstatic that Ludacris is stepping up to get on the MOV and join the mission by lending his talents to the Mission One Voice movement for our troops and their families. As a civilian I am honored to work with an organization like C*A*M*M*O to help provide opportunities, therapeutic outlets and quality entertainment to our service men and women across the country.”
Scheduled events will take place on June 1, 2013 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and June 8, 2013 at Fort Irwin in California, with many more dates and artists to be announced. Invited guests include soldiers from Fort Irwin, Fort Bliss, as well as Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Reserves units in the area, first responders, government employees and their families, along with all active duty military personnel, retirees and veterans, and their families from the local areas.
