Career and Community College Applications from International Students Up in 2013

How Does an International Student apply to Career and Community Colleges?

In an informal online survey, CCI, www.TheDegreePeople.com, and www.EvaluationCredentials.com found that all colleges responding said that applications from students outside of the United States increased in 2013.

Although application rates are up, these students are still sometimes lost when it comes to navigating admissions requirements for US colleges.

They all have one question: How do International Students Qualify for Admissions?

Just as US students need High School Diplomas for admissions into career colleges, international students need to show that they have the equivalence of a US High School Diploma. This is sometimes their secondary education certificate, and in some countries they need to take government exams. In order to obtain this equivalence, international students need to have a foreign credential evaluation completed by a foreign credentials evaluating agency.

CCI specializes in evaluations for applicants of career colleges and community colleges, providing those schools no charge rush service and personalized attention as well as the guaranteed lowest prices.

“I am a first generation American and a big supporter of the community college and career college experience. I grew up watching people treat my parents as if they were ‘less than’ because they spoke with accents. I found it humorous because my parents were so intelligent, but I know it hurt them,” explained Sheila Danzig, founder of CCI. “I founded this business to help those born outside the US get educated here. That was my mother’s dream and why she came to the US.”

Danzig believes that the career college and community college paths are very practical and agrees with recent studies that find the full university education path may not be the best route to follow. That is why she specializes in career and community colleges, working very closely with the schools, providing rush service for no extra charge, and delivery of the evaluation as a PDF file to the college official handling the admissions application.

“I don’t know of another evaluation that offers this, or one that supports the role that career colleges and community colleges play in our education system as much as we do at CCI,” said Danzig. “Some schools have told us that their international student applications have grown because CCI helps make the process student friendly.”
