As one of the world’s most iconic vehicles and a favorite among off-roaders, the Jeep Wrangler has earned a strong reputation for retaining its value over time. However, with Jeep making the Wrangler more fuel efficient and refined in recent years, the modern version is a better bet than ever to secure healthy trade-in offers in the future. Not only did the Jeep Wrangler recently top its class in Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards for the fourth straight year but for the third year in a row it also finished in the top 10 of all vehicles on the market.
The Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards rate each new vehicle based on the percentage of their original list price they are predicted to maintain after five years of ownership. The 2014 Jeep Wrangler led the Compact SUV/Crossover segment with an estimated 58 percent resale value, a 2.7 percent improvement compared to last year. With an award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 as its standard engine, the 2014 Wrangler produces 285 horsepower while boasting a range of up to 391 miles between fill-ups at the gas station.
“The Jeep Wrangler will always be in high demand due to its unmatched off-road capability, but the recent improvements in areas like gas mileage, convenience and comfort have expanded its appeal and boosted its resale value even further,” said Scott Pinnette, general manager of Central Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, a Waterville, Maine Jeep dealer. “Though it has kept its instantly recognizable shape and go-anywhere demeanor, the Jeep Wrangler has come a long way since its rugged roots in the 1940s.”
That contrast between past and present will be on full display when the new 2014 Jeep Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition goes on sale early next year. Nodding to the first Jeep civilian vehicle, the Willys-Overland CJ-2A, the Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition favors function over frills, sporting “Willys” hood decals, exclusive high-gloss black 17-inch aluminum wheels and a black Jeep badge on a gloss-black grille. Like the original Jeep, the new special-edition model is purely focused on capability, but it does so with equipment that is far more advanced, including a Dana 44 rear axle with Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential and 3.73 gears, BF Goodrich KM Mud Terrain LT255/75R17 tires, a new Jeep Trail Rated Kit and rock rails.
