Kate Borkowski With Special Guest Jon Evans at DROM New York on Saturday June 23

06/18/2012 (press release: kbmgroup) // Annette Morecraft

This Saturday night, Kate Borkowski will take the stage at DROM NYC (in Manhattan’s East Village) and showcase her haunting voice and introspective songs, breathing the emotional life of live performance into her unreleased debut album, ‘Beautiful Little Fools’. Bassist, Jon Evans (Tori Amos), and drummer, Steve Holloway (Riverdance), will support the album’s live premier on stage. The album was mixed by Marcel van Limbeek (longtime Tori Amos mix engineer) and tenderly mastered by Greg Calbi (Paul Simon, Graceland) at Sterling Sound.

‘Beautiful Little Fools’, the album’s title, is taken from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, and its themes of profound regret, self-doubt and almost obsessive worry wind their awkward ways like honey through 12 exquisitely crafted songs. In ‘The Finest Diner’, a song which intimately explores the simultaneous need to and inability to ‘move on’, Borkowski says with honest perception, comfortable existing within her own paradox, “and if I’d never been to the finest diner, I’d never have run into you. And if you didn’t work at the finest diner, I would know just what to do for food”. In some ways Borkowski’s music is reminiscent of ‘Diner’ – it feels like just what you needed, and its very existence reminds you that you aren’t getting what you need from most places.

New York City will be the first to hear ‘Beautiful Little Fools’ this Saturday, June 23, 2012. Tickets are available in advance through Ticketfly. Advance ticketbuyers will also receive a complimentary copy of The Vodka Honey EP, Borkowski’s six-song EP (released September 13, 2011) which features string arrangements by John Philip Shenale, and is a collection of alternate mixes of ‘In My Stoli’ (the opening track from ‘Beautiful Little Fools’), ‘Beautiful Little Fools’ (the LP’s title track) as well as an album B-side. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. Limited seating is available and reservations are encouraged to guarantee seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:15 p.m.
