HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Guinean president, Pr. Alpha Condé, inaugurated, on Wednesday in the Matoto commune, 20 km from Conakry, the flour-mill “Moulins de l’Afrique” (Africa’s mills).Fruit of a joint venture between the Lahlal Mills (Morocco) and Sonoco company Ltd (Guinea), this new industrial unit was carried out for over 30 million euros.

Built on a surface area of 3.5 ha in the Sonfonia industrial area (Matoto commune), the next generation flour-mill, with a capacity of 900 tons per day, benefited from the trust of institutional financial partners and a local banking pool.

The factory’s monthly production capacity is nearly 19,000 tons of flour and 6,250 tons of bran to meet the needs of the Guinean market.

In line with south-south cooperation, made a top priority by HM the King in Morocco’s foreign policy, as well as with the development of win-win partnerships, this new flour-mill will create around 500 direct jobs.

The plant is supervised by 45 engineers and technicians (Moroccan, Guinean, Swiss, Polish and French) which makes it a very important engine for technology transfer.

The construction of this industrial unit is in harmony with the five-year program by the Guinean government which puts food self-sufficiency at the heart of its priorities.

The sovereign, accompanied by the Guinean head of state, toured the facility which includes mainly storing silos for imported wheat, two mills, and a flour packaging unit.
