In late July, thousands of comic-book fans, sci-fi aficionados and gamers gathered once again at Comic-Con International: San Diego to celebrate the finer points of pop culture. To ramp up the already-potent buzz surrounding this year’s event, Lexus sponsored a new Marvel comic issue that takes place alongside Season 1 of ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” TV show, and the capable Lexus GX SUV is featured prominently on the cover.
Marvel’s new “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” issue is titled, “The Chase (2014) #1,” and it is now available at select comic-book stores following its appearance at Comic-Con. For Marvel fans who aren’t print-comic purists, the issue can also be viewed digitally at www.marvel.com/lexus. Inside the comic, the Lexus GX is pushed to its limits, conquering sandy terrain in Jamaica before tracking down the enemy across the frozen tundra of Antarctica. Meanwhile, the urban-friendly Lexus CT hybrid also makes a cameo, as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents put the versatile hatchback into action when they go undercover as cycling enthusiasts in France.
“Marvel chose wisely in selecting these Lexus vehicles for S.H.I.E.L.D. because the GX is well-equipped to chase villains off-road and the CT hybrid offers a nimble ride for missions on tight city streets,” said Vincent Liuzzi, general manager of Lexus of Watertown, a Lexus dealer near Boston. “Though our customers probably won’t be trying to save the world from destruction in their vehicles, the GX and CT hybrid are just as impressive in real life as they are illustrated.”
