Mastria Subaru Marks Earth Day with Completion of Solar Installation

To support the local community and work to make a positive impact on the environment, Mastria Subaru has teamed with Massachusetts-based Solect Energy to install solar panels on its roof as part of a larger Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) effort this month called “Subaru Loves the Earth.” The 52.52-kilowatt solar installation was completed last week in time for Earth Day today, and the Subaru dealership in Raynham, Mass., will celebrate the environmental and cost-saving project this weekend with a Subaru Loves the Earth Sales Event.

Mastria Subaru’s solar installation consists of 202 Q CELLS panels, IronRidge racking and Solectria inverters on a tiled metal roof. Combined with new systems at Mastria Buick GMC Cadillac and Mastria Nissan, the solar panels are predicted to cover about 30 percent of the auto group’s total electricity costs, saving it up to $40,000 annually. Another solar installation planned for Mastria Mazda later in 2015 could take another $10,000 off of the Mastria Auto Group’s electricity bills each year.

“We’re thrilled that our new solar installation by Solect was finished in time for the Subaru Loves the Earth festivities this month,” said Chris Dunn, general manager of Mastria Subaru. “You’d be hard-pressed to find another auto brand that is as committed to protecting the environment as Subaru, and its customers are just as enthusiastic about those efforts. That made this solar-panel project a very natural fit for our dealership.”

The Subaru Loves the Earth effort reflects SOA’s corporate goals to improve the environment and the lives of those in the local communities where we live and work. Throughout the month, both SOA and local retailers across the country have conducted events to show their commitment to the environment in a variety of ways – all part of the larger Subaru Love Promise effort dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. Twitter users can join the dialogue by using the hashtag, #SubaruLovestheEarth.
