New Ram 1500 Duo to Bring More MPGs, Off-Road Capability

01/28/2015 (press release: CambridgePRGroup) // CONCORD, N.H. // Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram

Blending class-leading fuel economy with impressive capability, the current-generation Ram 1500 pickup truck appeals to buyers at both ends of the performance spectrum, and that dual threat was highlighted by the debuts of two new models at the Detroit Auto Show this month. On one hand, the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will extend the nameplate’s fuel-economy leadership by one mile per gallon on the highway, and on the other, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel will provide buyers with an aggressive new off-roading option in the full-size truck segment.

By featuring aerodynamic upgrades like class-exclusive wheel-to-wheel side steps and a tri-fold tonneau cover, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will raise the bar on fuel economy in its segment from 28 mpg to 29 mpg on the highway. When the new model goes on sale late in the first quarter of this year, buyers will also receive a unique trim on the Ram 1500 Tradesman Quad Cab four-door body, including 20-inch wheels and a 6-foot 4-inch bed. They will also be able to opt for a body-colored fascia pulled from the Ram Express model.

“Both of the new Ram 1500 models will allow buyers to stand out from other owners stylistically, but more importantly, they’ll let drivers either go farther between fill-ups or farther off the beaten path,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, a Ram dealer in Concord, N.H. “The EcoDiesel HFE model will be 12 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitor in the full-size segment, while the Rebel model will bring a long-anticipated off-road option to fans of the Ram 1500.”

Leveraging the Ram 1500’s segment-exclusive air suspension, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel receives an extra inch of ride height to tackle greater approach, departure and breakover angles. The steering has been recalibrated for that increased ride height, which combines with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires to give the Rebel model a best-in-class ground clearance of 10.3 inches. Other performance upgrades include specially tuned Bilstein front and rear shocks, skid plates and tow hooks. When it arrives at dealers in the second half of this year, the Ram 1500 Rebel will sport a bold exterior design that will be distinguished by new black-bezel projector headlamps, a blacked-out front grille, black front and rear bumpers and black wheel-arch moldings.
