MINI is known for its passionate customers who will travel enthusiastically to meet-ups around the country, whether it is to MINI on the Mack on the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan or to MINIs on Top, an annual gathering on New Hampshire’s Mount Washington. The eccentric auto brand’s most extensive stateside event, however, is the MINI Takes the States (MTTS) cross-country rally, which will conclude in Boston next summer.
Starting in San Francisco on July 26, 2014, next year’s MTTS rally will lead MINI owners and their vehicles through 18 states and 15 cities in two weeks, reaching the final destination in Boston on Aug. 10. MINI promises a “not normal” journey for participants, with the route dipping as far south as Austin, Texas, before heading up through the Midwest. A route map and stop dates of the fifth MTTS can be found at MINITakestheStates.com.
“We’ve had the pleasure of being involved with MINIs on Top at Mount Washington the last few years and can definitively say that MINI owners know how to have a great time together,” said Gary King, general manager of MINI of Bedford, a New Hampshire MINI dealer. “MINI is also better than any other auto brand at encouraging those kinds of meet-ups, so we can’t wait to see MINI fans from around the country in New England as part of MINI Takes the States 2014.”
Participants and onlookers can expect to see a wide variety of MINI vehicles at MTTS 2014, as the brand’s lineup expanded to seven models this past March with the debut of the MINI Paceman. Developed as a sportier, two-door version of the popular MINI Countryman, the Paceman is differentiated by its lower stance, drastically sloping roofline and integrated spoiler. Like its Countryman sibling, the Paceman is offered with an available ALL4 all-wheel-drive system.
MINI’s lineup continues to attract a record number of buyers. Last month, the auto brand achieved its best-ever August sales, moving more than 6,000 units in the United States. Year-to-date, MINI has sold 44,329 new models for a 2 percent increase compared to the same period in its record-breaking 2012.
“MINI has diversified its lineup to satisfy a variety of personalities and lifestyles in recent years, whether you need an all-weather-capable ride like the Countryman or Paceman, or a pure sports model like the MINI Coupe or Roadster,” added King. “Of course, driving fun is the No. 1 priority regardless of the MINI you choose.”
