Payday Express launches ‘Be Animal Friendly’ month for May

06/15/2012 (press release: OnlinePR) // Ashleigh Slade

May was declared Be Animal Friendly month by one of the leading payday lenders in the UK, Payday Express.

The payday loan company erected a Be Board in the staff kitchen in March to raise awareness of different topics and causes each month. March was Be Healthy month and April was Be Fair month, promoting fair trade. Last month the company turned its attention to the fair treatment of animals.

Following the success of the prior month’s Be Fair theme, the short-term payday loans company aimed to use the Be Animal Friendly theme in May to help raise awareness and encourage staff to support great charities such as the RSPCA, which helps all sorts of animals from pet cats to circus lions, and WWF, which strives to safeguard natural environments for animals by preserving forests, rivers, lakes, and oceans.

The company also supported local animal charities such as Foal Farm in Biggin Hill. The Be Board had information about what Foal Farm does and how the charity relies on donations and time given by volunteers.

Sarah Carroll, operations manager at Payday Express, said: “As a pet owner it is great that we helped to raise awareness about these charities, which do so much to help the well-being of all animals.

“We also like using the monthly theme to encourage staff to help a cause close to their hearts by showing the options they have for charities to donate to, or even volunteer for.”

In addition to giving staff information on how they can support their chosen animal charity, Payday Express holds a dress down day every Friday and charges £1 to staff who dress casually for the day. The money raised goes to the chosen charity of the month; May’s chosen charity was the RSPCA. The animal loving Payday Express marketing team also held fundraising competitions, including paying £1 to guess the number of Skittles sweets in a jar. The person with the closest guess won the jar of Skittles and the extra funds raised were given to the RSPCA.

Lauren Johnson, marketing assistant at the same day cash loans provider, said: “I love animals – they are a big part of my life. I own a shihtzu dog called Buddy which I adore, and it is great to know that by raising awareness and money for the RSPCA, we can play a part in helping animals that have been mistreated.”
