While Nissan’s Versa is still the best-selling subcompact car in the United States, the emergence of competing models looking to emulate that success has prompted the Japanese automaker to give the sedan a significant facelift for the 2015 model year. Unveiled at the New York International Auto Show earlier this month, the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan has received several upgrades to its interior technology offerings and new front and rear styling similar to that found on the larger Sentra and Altima sedans, all while remaining the most affordable new car on the market.
Up front, the 2015 Versa Sedan features a standard chrome-plated grille, larger headlamps and a new fog-light finisher design, while the rear fascia has been tweaked to evoke a more dynamic style. Versa SV models are now available with exclusive 15-inch V-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, and both SV and SL trims sport new side-mirror designs. Inside the cabin, buyers will find a redesigned center stack like the one in the Versa Note hatchback, new white LED graphics in the meter display, and a thicker steering wheel with controls for audio and the newly standard Bluetooth connectivity.
“The changes to the 2015 Versa Sedan will help keep the model at the top of the sales charts in its segment because buyers now get even more style and substance for the lowest MSRP on the market,” said Bruce Garcia, general sales manager of Mastria Nissan, a Greater Boston Nissan dealer. “There are cars that cost twice as much as the Versa that don’t come with standard Bluetooth connectivity, and Nissan has also made access to other in-car technologies more affordable in the 2015 model.”
On the base S and S Plus trims, the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan now offers an enhanced audio system with an auxiliary input and a Radio Data System (RDS), while the SL Technology Package now includes the NissanConnect infotainment system with navigation and mobile apps, as well as a 5.8-inch color touchscreen display and Nissan Voice Recognition. The new Versa Sedan still houses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that allows the vehicle to return up to 40 mpg on the highway with the available Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).
