Reaching out to the surrounding community is a regular occurrence for Southern Surgical Arts’ cosmetic and facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Carey Nease who recently became affiliated with Faces of Honor. This charity organization is an affiliate of the Face to Face programs. Faces of Honor provides free and charitable reconstructive surgery for both men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The services will reconstruct and repair any damage to the face or neck that occurred during their time of service.
“These men and women have laid their lives on the line to ensure our freedom, they are heroes and deserve to have the constant reminder of scars or deformities removed,” stated Dr. Nease of Southern Surgical Arts. “Choosing to join the efforts of Faces of Honor was really not a decision that required much thought, it is simply the right thing to do.”
This affiliation comes from Southern Surgical Arts’ effort to expand their involvement in community outreach. Other programs the doctors are active in include Project Access in Hamilton County Tennessee, which provides services for low income or uninsured individuals. Even though most cosmetic procedures are elective, Dr. Deal and Dr. Nease have training in other areas such as general surgery and otolaryngology – head and neck surgery. They also provide services in the community by treating any traumatic or urgent medical issues that may affect a patient’s appearance or self-confidence.
Another charitable organization that Southern Surgical Arts serves is Breast Oasis. They provide a drop off for clean, gently used bras. These bras are given to women who can otherwise not afford these items. They are collected and distributed confidentially at the Chattanooga Room in the Inn, which is a women’s shelter in the Chattanooga area. Providing this drop off location is just another way that the surgeons at Southern Surgical Arts reach out to the surrounding communities that they serve.
Reaching out to the community, offering what they can, is a daily goal for each staff member of Southern Surgical Arts. The team of doctors works with their patients to provide everything from basic health care to life changing procedures. The treatments are catered to each patient to provide them with the best possible care that is available.
