Spencer Volmar Announces Completion of Moab Half Marathon on March 17, 2012

Spencer Volmar is excited to announce the completion of the Moab Half Marathon.

/EINPresswire.com/Spencer Volmar has been an avid running and fitness enthusiast for years, having participated in a number of annual half marathons. As an electrical engineer he leads a busy professional lifestyle, however has managed to stay in great shape by committing his mornings and afternoons to jogging and exercising. This year he participated in the Moab Half Marathon on March 17, ranking 1678th overall (out of 4000 runners), 167th in his class, and 876th amongst all males.

When asked what he likes most about the Moab Half Marathon event, Spencer answered “Competing in this half marathon gave me the opportunity to gauge my endurance by competing against thousands of other amateur runners at a pace that was suitable for my physical fitness level. The race also offers a more scenic route than most half marathons, boasting incredible canyon views along the Colorado River on Highway 128, and then finishing in downtown Moab, Utah at Swanny City Park.”

In a coincidence of some significance, Spencer participated in this year’s 37th Annual Moab Half Marathon at the age of 35, yet was able to rank higher than many of the younger runners. He credits his ability to excel in competitive half marathons to his “ongoing commitment to maintaining a high level of physical fitness. Going for daily runs in the community has not only helped me build stamina, it has also given me the experience of learning how to pace myself and perfect my running technique to minimize unnecessary soreness and injury.”

When asked what he enjoyed the most about this year’s Moab Half Marathon, Spencer responded “the weather was absolutely phenomenal this year, as it wasn’t too hot or too cold. The organizing committee also did a great job of adding to the festivities, and the entire event was planned and executed with the utmost professionalism. The volunteers were also incredibly friendly, and the packet given to attendees was both informational and well-written.”

In regards to his performance/ranking in the recent Moab Half Marathon, Volmar said “Last year when I competed in the event I ranked a bit higher, at 975th overall. This year I decided to slow down and enjoy more of the scenic aspects of the course, rather than rush to the finish line. Since I was not really aspiring to rank in first place, I figured it would be better for me to savor the experience more this year.”
