Strategic Vision: Lexus LS Owners Are Pleased, Experience Few Problems

Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Index (TQI) is unique among automotive rankings because it not only takes problems experienced into account, but also drivers’ love for their vehicles. This year, the 2013 Lexus LS won the Total Quality Award in the Luxury Car category with 955 points out of a possible 1,000, while the Lexus marque tied with Audi for best individual brand.

For its 2013 TQI, Strategic Vision surveyed 17,568 buyers who purchased 2013-model-year vehicles between September and November of 2012. They were asked about 155 aspects of buying, owning and operating their model, including concrete problems as well as perception and satisfaction with their overall experience rated on a scale ranging from “A Failure” to “I Love It.” The Lexus LS beat out competitors like the Hyundai Equus and Audi A6 sedan in its category.

“The LS was designed holistically to make sure it provides excellence in every aspect that matters to luxury buyers,” said William Finsilver, general manager of Long Island Lexus dealer Lexus of Massapequa. “From its engaging new design that debuted for the 2013 model year to its comfortable-yet-responsive ride, the LS also gives drivers what they didn’t even know they needed from a luxury car.”

For 2013, the Lexus LS was redesigned with a bold new exterior that features the signature Lexus spindle grille and swept-back headlights with optional LED lighting. Inside, the LS received new front seats for better support and available wood trim, as well as a standard 10-speaker premium audio system. The 2013 model year also brought an all-new Lexus LS F SPORT trim, which offers buyers an even more aggressive front fascia, sport seats, paddle shifters and a lowered sport-tuned air suspension.

The 2013 Lexus LS has appeared to resonate with luxury buyers since it went on sale last fall. April sales of the model were up 60 percent over the same month in 2012, and its year-to-date total has now risen by 69 percent compared to the same time period last year, with 3,560 units sold.

“The redesign of the LS has made the car bolder than ever, and that hard-hitting look is attracting new buyers who want excitement from their daily drive, as well as longtime Lexus enthusiasts who already know the high level of quality that the brand consistently brings to its vehicles,” added Finsilver. “If that’s not enough for some buyers, they can opt for the F SPORT trim that was inspired by the Lexus LFA supercar to get their blood pumping.”
