This February, London’s Southbank Centre will be transformed into a haven for young bookworms with the launch of Imagine Children’s Festival.
Sponsored by online book store the Book People, the event will run between February 11th – 24th at the famous centre for culture and the arts, situated on the bank of the River Thames. This year, the festival is going to be extra special, as children are taking over and arranging many aspects of the event, including the topics up for discussion in the popular Festival Ideas Cloud sessions.
Of course, Imagine Children’s Festival wouldn’t be the event it is without lots of books, and this year is no different as there are a plethora of authors who will be treating youngsters to readings from their latest offerings. Among those taking part are kids story book authors Simon Mayo, David Walliams, Derek Landy and Anthony Horowitz. Plus, literary giants Michael Rosen and Laura Dockrill will be performing on stage together.
These events are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the discussions, performances and entertainment taking place during Imagine. Anyone who wants to check out the full line-up of events can find all the information they need on the Southbank Centre’s Imagine Children’s Festival pages.
The Book People will also be keeping followers up-to-date with the goings-on via Facebook and Twitter. People can like the Facebook page to get all the latest on what’s happening at the event, while they can join in the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #ImagineFest.
Lindsay Eyers, social media manager at the Book People, said: “Here at the Book People we’re all really excited about this year’s Imagine Children’s Festival. It’s going to be bigger and better than ever and we’ve got some amazing events organised.
“Plus, the festival culminates in the unmissable Red House Book Awards, which is the only nationwide book award voted for entirely by children. We’ll be bringing people all the latest updates via our social media pages, so don’t miss out.”
Imagine Children’s Festival includes a mix of free and paid-for events and tickets are available from the Southbank Centre website. For anyone looking to buy new books, or simply immerse themselves in the wonderful world of children’s literature, Imagine is the perfect event.
