Plan UK is a global children’s charity working to help children build a better future, and its flagship campaign ‘Because I am a Girl’ is now receiving support from the Book People.
The charity’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign aims to raise awareness of the millions of girls who are discriminated against in countries worldwide.
Every day girls are being denied basic rights simply because of their gender so Plan UK is working to help girls in some of the most poverty stricken countries to get the education they need so that they can go on to make their own life choices.
Online book store the Book People is proud to be supporting this charity and is currently doing everything it can to help. All money raised by the charity will help girls throughout the world to fight back against the discrimination they face every day of their life.
In many countries girls are seen as being of less value than boys. Taken out of school they grow up without the ability to read or write and are forced to look after their siblings and carry out household chores instead of living their own lives. Many are subjected to violence, forced into marriage and have to give birth when they are still children themselves.

People can donate to Plan UK through the official website now, or can visit the charity’s Facebook page to buy a personalised virtual book for just £3, the proceeds of which will help girls all over the world to realise their potential.
